This year the MSMC decided to buy a student ticket for the upcoming ICM conference in Toronto. The lucky winner has finally been chosen! Thank you to all those who participated and congratulations to our winner Natacha Schinas!
What does going to the ICM mean to Natacha? "I would love to see midwives from across the globe come together in solidarity and share their spirit and passion for midwifery. To hear from other communities, to learn, and to celebrate the contributions of midwifery. I have also considered practicing international midwifery since joining the MEP."
Want to know the facts? Here are the answers to the questions from our survey: International Day of the Midwife is May 5. ICM stands for the International Confederation of Midwives. The Canadian membership group of the ICM is called the Canadian Association of Midwives (CAM). The first ICM meeting was in Belgium 1919. There are 130 different midwifery associations that have membership in the ICM.
Legal: The contest was open to all McMaster Midwifery Students (including those studying in Manitoba) from September 25, 2016 to September 30, 2016. Students interested in winning the ticket filled out our survey and answer questions about midwifery in Canada and across the globe. The survey was shared via the MSMC Facebook page. We had 15 respondents to our survey. Survey software assigned each of the respondents a number between 1 and 15. Numbers 1-15 were put into randomizing software (Random Picker) and the program generated a number. No identifying features were noted, nor were the names of the respondents to the survey checked prior to the draw. No extra weight was given to respondents who answered questions correctly, nor was any weight taken away for incorrect answers on the survey. This number (8) corresponded with our 8th survey respondent and our winner. If you have any further questions regarding how the draw took place please contact the MSMC directly at [email protected] ATTN: Sequoya. Thank you.
